My slow Sunday reset: a rest day routine that actually feels like rest

Rest days used to make me feel guilty. Now Sunday is the day I look forward to the most. No alarm, no plans, nothing to prove. Here is what a slow Sunday looks like for me.

Wake up slowly

I let myself sleep in, then stay in my pajamas for as long as possible. My current favorite is the Ribbed Cami & Shorts PJ Set. It is soft and ribbed, the cami and shorts match, and it is comfy enough that I forget I am wearing it.

A walk instead of a workout

I still move, just gently. A long walk by the water, no pace, no tracking, just a podcast or nothing at all. For that I wear the Running Shorts with Liner: light woven shorts with a built-in liner, so I can throw them on with any tee.

Drink the water

Rest days are when I am worst at hydrating, so I fill the Quencher ProTour Flipstraw 30 oz in the morning and try to finish it by the afternoon.

Reset the space and the week

  • Wash the gym clothes and repack my gym bag.
  • Change the sheets. Nothing beats a fresh bed on a Sunday night.
  • Write down my workouts for the week, nothing detailed, just which days and what.
  • Pick one thing to look forward to: a new class, a coffee spot, a long call with a friend.

Let it be boring

The point of a rest day is that nothing happens. Your muscles recover, your head clears and Monday feels a lot less heavy.
